Gemotions

The scent of lavender from the garden, normally a source of peace, was now lost on him. It was as if his senses were diminished, unable to fully take in the world around him. His best friend, Daniel, was moving, and it had left him in a state of quiet despair.

He sat on the porch swing, staring at the empty bird feeder. He felt a deep, physical resistance to the simplest of tasks, his usual energy utterly depleted. Daniel’s explanation of a new start, new adventures, new everything, sounded like a foreign language.

"I just… I don't know what to say," he mumbled, his voice flat and devoid of inflection. He felt a profound sense of isolation, a sudden and unwelcome awareness of the space Daniel’s absence would leave behind.
